How Often Do Tax Transcripts Update?

Tax transcript codes are posted by 9:00 pm EST on weekdays and 10:00 pm EST on Thursday.  You should be able to see updates an hour or two after that day’s deadline.

What is the TAS or Taxpayer Advocate Service?

The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is an independent organization within the IRS whose employees assist taxpayers who are experiencing economic harm, who are seeking help in resolving tax problems that have not been resolved through normal channels, or who believe that an IRS system or procedure is not working as it should.

What Does NDC Mean?

Notice Disposition Code

Every effort must be made to review, correct, and disposition notices in the current cycle to minimize negative impact to the taxpayer.  All notices should be worked as soon as the requested information or document(s) are received to minimize any further delay to the taxpayer.  An OLNR “Online Held Notices Report” will be produced weekly to track the number of notices held beyond the cycle.

What Does DCF Stand for?

Dishonored Check File. The Dishonored Check File is a separate file within the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS) containing information on all remittances on which payment has been refused by the depository bank.

Employer Identification Number (EIN)

A nine-digit number, also referred to as the EI number, used to identify business taxpayers on the Business Master File. The first two digits represent the district office code.

Employee Plans Master File

The Employee Plans Master File (EPMF) is a master file maintained at MCC. This file consists of various types of tax sheltered Pension/Profit Sharing Plan. The plans are plans that are adopted by (a) employers, (b) sponsors (e.g. labor unions) and (3) self–employed individuals. This file is maintained in Employer Identification Number (EIN) sequence. The EPMF consists of three distinct sub–modules. These sub–modules are:
(a) The Sponsor/Employer entity module.
(b) The Plan Data module.
(c) Returns module.
