Kroger Family of Stores Hiring 20,000 Employees Nationwide The Kroger Co. family of stores today announced it will hold open interviews nationwide on Tues., Sept. 15, for all veterans and their family members.  Nationwide, the company is hiring to fill an estimated 20,000 permanent positions in its supermarket divisions. Veterans and their family members need only to fill out on application online at jobs.kroger.com by Sept. 13, and then return to a store on Sept. 15, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. (no appointment necessary). Kroger hired more than 6,000 veterans in 2014, and has hired more than 29,000 veterans since 2009 as part of its commitment to active duty troops and the nation’s 23 million veterans through “Honoring Our Heroes,” a multi-faceted program the company designed to show its deep gratitude.

One week left for applicants to enter “Veterans Business Battle”

Nearly 100 veterans have submitted a business plan to compete in the first-ever EO-Houston Veterans Business Battle with more than a week remaining before applications close. This business plan competition, hosted by Entrepreneurs’ Organization-Houston and Rice University’s Veterans in Business Association, will be dedicated to creating and growing veteran-founded businesses. Selected finalists will have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a panel of successful entrepreneurs and qualified investors at the EO-Houston Veterans Business Battle on February 28 at Rice University. It is the goal of the competition to invest $1 million in veteran-owned companies.

ATA Commits to Hiring 100,000 Veterans

Today, American Trucking Associations announced it was committing on behalf of the trucking industry and its members to hire 100,000 veterans as part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring 500,000 Heroes campaign. “There’s no higher calling for an American than to serve in our armed forces, and I’d like to think that driving a truck – delivering America’s most essential goods safely and efficiently is also a high calling,” said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. “That’s why we’re so proud to be partnering with Hiring Our Heroes and committing on behalf of the trucking industry to hire 100,000 veterans over the next two years.”
